yt-dlna is a lightweight online media gateway used for proxying streaming playlists to DLNA/UPnP clients.
It acts as a bridge between online video platforms (such as YouTube, ARD Mediathek, ZDF and others) and legacy DLNA/UPnP media renderers (like older Smart TVs, media players, or set-top boxes) that no longer have native streaming apps. That way, it makes your favorite playlists, like ‚Watch Later‘, immediately accessible, even from very old TVs. All you need is a machine running Python and a TV that can play media from UPnP media servers.
